BELMONT COUNTY, OH (WTRF) - Union Local Middle and High School students were not even born when 9-11 took place.

Thursday, they seemed shocked and silent as videos were shown, and speakers described the horror.

School officials brought together first responders to present a program of remembrance and reflection.

Sheriff James Zusack was a deputy at the time, and recalls being told to gas up his cruiser and go out on the road, offering support to bewildered citizens.

School Superintendent Zac Shutler wanted the students to understand the grit and determination it took to emerge from it better.
