Downdetector , which tracks service outages in real time, shows a spike of user-reported outages for Google Maps as of 1 p.m. A map of user-submitted problems indicate an outage experienced nationwide, including in California. On X and Reddit, several users reported of Google Maps being down Thursday.

Google Maps Platform Status Dashboard , which provides status information on services part of the Google Maps Platform, reported investigating and resolving several issues as of Thursday afternoon. It’s not immediately clear what caused issues with Google Maps. 9to5Google , a tech-focused site, reported the issue had impacted Android and iOS apps.
