Prince George RCMP are asking the public to stay away from the intersection of Victoria Street and Patricia Boulevard due to an active police investigation.

In the early afternoon of Thursday, Sept. 11, RCMP were attempting to arrest a man in relation to a different investigation. When searching the man's belongings, officers found an explosive device in the person's backpack.

“We want the public to be aware that this event is unrelated to the bomb threats that were delivered to several facilities in Prince George yesterday evening," said Prince George RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Jennifer Cooper. "We ask that they stay away from the area to give police officers room to work safely. Please choose alternate routes when travelling through the area."
