A source tells NY1 that during a closed-door meeting with business leaders Wednesday, Mayor Eric Adams said he’d consider dropping out of the race in the coming weeks if it’s in the best interest of the city.

The mayor plans to do some internal polling in the coming weeks, the source said.

The mayor will use the poll to see whether he’s moving up in the race and if he’s getting his message out effectively, according to the source.

In a statement, the Adams campaign again said Adams “has made it clear: he is staying in this race.”
