Little black nozzles

arise from dry earth:

lawn sprinklers,

spraying water almost every day.

My dog is unsure --

friend or foe.

To bark or not to bark,

that is the question.

Slyly, it offers a drink.

Cautiously, he moves closer,

but waits --

too late!

It sinks.

He questions his life.

Today, he decides anew.

When the nozzle appears,

he uses the spray

as his own personal bidet.
