BLACKSHEAR, Ga. — For years, neighbors of the Oak Ridge community in Pierce County, Georgia, have faced a frustrating problem: trains blocking the only road in and out of their neighborhood.

Now, that could soon change. The Timber Lane Extension project, set to start in a few weeks, will create a second entrance to the community, easing traffic backups and improving safety for neighbors and emergency vehicles.

What should be a short drive to work, school, or appointments can turn into long waits, leaving families feeling stuck and anxious.
