HARWOOD, N.D. — It is shaping up to be a David vs. Goliath battle as the cities of Harwood and Fargo fight for control of the site of a planned $3 billion artificial intelligence data center.
For now, the land sits in the community of Harwood, but Fargo has begun the process of annexing it into the city. The land in dispute lies about a mile north of Fargo’s North Softball Complex and about a mile south of Harwood.
Harwood Mayor Blake Hankey said the city is prepared for a legal fight.
“We don’t feel Fargo has any right to annex our land, that would be like us going to annex Hector ai rport in,” Hankey said.
Fargo City Administrator Michael Redlinger said the city is exercising its rights under North Dakota law.
