LOWER MANHATTAN -- The ceremony memorializing the 2,977 people who perished on Sept. 11, 2001, left many of the thousands in attendance emotionally affected as they looked back on two dozen years without their loved ones.
They also spoke of the challenges they face as people continue to fall ill from the effects of hazardous environmental factors related to the terror attacks.
Also, the day was all the more unsettling, many family members said, because weather conditions on Thursday closely resembled those of 9/11.
The passage of time was palpable to many people in attendance at the ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial.
