PITTSBURGH —

Lukas Kislak received a 15- to 40-year prison sentence on Thursday for the murder of Alex Yerkey, who was shot while riding his bike in Bloomfield .

Standing before Judge Katherine Emery, Kislak apologized to the court, his family and the victim's family, saying, "I'm sorry for what I've done. I'm sorry for the family. I should have seeked help earlier. I didn't do that, and this tragedy occurred. All I can say is I'm sorry." Advertisement

Before Kislak spoke, his family addressed the court, discussing his struggles with mental health and drug addiction, including overdosing 17 times. They said that on the day of the shooting in March 2023 , Kislak was paranoid.
