A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 5:20 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 5:45 p.m. for Oregon Lower Treasure Valley and Malheur County.

The storms could bring nickel-sized hail (0.88 inches) and wind gusts of up to 40 mph.

"At 5:19 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm near Succor Creek Campground, or 27 miles south of Parma, moving northwest at 10 mph," states the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Areas of blowing dust possible. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible."
