BARRINGTON, R.I. (WPRI) — The Barrington Public Schools have placed a teacher on administrative leave for "alleged social media activity."

In an email to the community Thursday night, acting Superintendent Chris Ashely said the school will be "conducting a thorough investigation, led by a third party investigator."

Ashley noted that the district is following its policy and cannot share further details.

"I want to be clear: Barrington Public Schools holds its staff to the highest professional standards," Ashley said. "We will always take appropriate steps to ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all our students and staff."
