Premier David Eby says the fact British Columbia scored two of five positions on Ottawa’s new major protects list Thursday is a sign of confidence in the direction of the provincial economy.

Prime Minister Mark Carney announced LNG Canada Phase 2 in Kitimat and the Red Chris mine expansion near Stewart on his list of nation-building projects he intends to fast-track to completion.

At $40 billion, LNG Canada is the most expensive private project in B.C.’s history, and its first phase just came into operation. An expansion would almost double itS capacity to liquified B.C. natural gas for export and sale to Asian markets.
