The Carolina Panthers have fired a staff member following his social media post about Charlie Kirk’s death.

Charlie Rock, who worked in the Panthers communications department, has been fired for an insensitive post about Charlie Kirk, according to Scott Fowler of The Charlotte Observer .

Kirk, a conservative activist, was shot and killed in Utah on Wednesday.

According to Fowler, Charlie Rock posted on his personal Instagram story: “Why are y’all sad? Your man said it was worth it ..." along with a photo or Kirk. He also reportedly posted a reference to the Wu-Tang Clan song “Protect Ya Neck.”

The Panthers addressed the post by Rock on their X account Thursday morning.
