Two students at Cornell University in New York state killed a 120-pound black bear, then dragged it back to their dorm, where they skinned and butchered the animal.
Both students, who were not identified, had valid state hunting licenses a Cornell spokesperson said in a statement, according to NBC News.
After hunting and killing the bear, the students brought the dead animal into a university residence hall and began to skin the carcass and package the meat.
A police report was filed after officers received a complaint, but no charges were filed.
A member of the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), which oversees hunting in New York state, investigated and found there were no code violations, NBC News said.
