A former Detroit News manager who helped run the business for more than 30 years has died, her family said.
Theresa "Terry" J. Dobson, 79, of Allen Park died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, at Corewell Dearborn Hospital following a short battle with cancer, according to Kernan Funeral Service in Lincoln Park.
Ms. Dobson worked at The News beginning in 1972, starting as an office manager and retiring in 2006 as an editorial assistant. She had previously worked at Michigan Bell, according to her sister, Elizabeth Malkowski.
In her obituary, loved ones called her a "loving person of faith who took care of many family members throughout the years."
“Terry was my supervisor when I joined The Detroit News newsroom as a clerk in the late '80s," said Marie Thompson, support staff manager at The News.
