LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The deadly shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk is leading to conversations on college campuses across the country about safety at large events.

University of Kentucky Chief of Police Joe Monroe has worked with UKPD for more than 30 years, and in his time, he says they’ve had political guests ranging from presidents to foreign dignitaries on campus.

“To see if it’s something we’ve got to look at staffing with just a few officers or staffing with a lot of officers, depending on that threat level or that high-profile person that’s coming to the event,” said Monroe.
