WACO, Texas — The My35 Waco South project is set to begin its next demolition, targeting the bridge above South New Road. The demolition is the first of many that are scheduled for the project, and it has residents worried about worsening traffic flow.

"I mean, this is going to cause all kinds of messes for them, I'd imagine," Waco resident Greg Goodfellow said.

TxDOT is preparing to remove the northbound I-35 bridge over South New Road as part of its My35 Waco South construction project.

"Starting on Friday [Sept. 12] at around 7 p.m., we are going to close the New Road lanes underneath the I-35 Interstate," TXDOT spokesperson Jake Smith said. "The reason we're doing that is because the contractor will start the demo of the New Road bridge."
