BELINGTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Laurel Mountain VFW Post 410 Auxiliary in Belington hosted a special ceremony Thursday to mark the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
Community members gathered at the post to honor the nearly three thousand lives lost in the terrorist attacks of 2001. The remembrance was organized to reflect, remember and bring people together in solidarity.
"We need to remember, we need to understand, my grandson is 12, they know nothing about this. He didn't know that there was a war that happened after this. We need to be able to teach the younger generations why it's so important to honor our military, our first responders, and the people that support us across the country," Auxiliary President of VFW Post 410 Melody Everitt said.
