MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — Honoring the past while helping veterans in the present, that was the goal of Thursday’s 9/11 remembrance ceremony and resource fair in Morgantown.
Early Thursday morning at the Morgantown Armory, Valley Healthcare System hosted a flag-raising ceremony along with a resource fair, in honor of the lives lost in 2001.
The ceremony began with a statement from U.S. Senator Jim Justice, who was unable to attend. Several local veterans and first responders were in attendance; however, more than 40 members of the community came together for the folding of the flag.
Along with the flag-raising ceremony, there was a raptor presentation with Freedom the Bald Eagle, presented by Flying Higher LLC. Hair Mechanix in Morgantown was offering free haircuts for veterans as well
