VINELAND – Asked if his Eastern Regional High School football team was giving him gray hair with all the close calls, Lionel Bolen rubbed his salt-and-pepper beard and smiled.

If the Vikings continue to pile up wins by tight margins, the head coach won’t mind.

Fresh off an overtime win over Ocean City, Eastern rallied from a deficit in the fourth quarter to earn an 8-7 win over Vineland on Thursday night at Gittone Stadium.

Junior Terry Cook, who hauled in a touchdown pass and picked off another one to ice the game, said Vikings’ football fans should anticipate many more heart-pumping moments this season.

“It’s always a great game with us,” Cook said. “We’ve got to get real comfortable in these situations because I think we’re going to play a lot of tight games like this one.”
