CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Two eastern Iowa political campaigns are telling TV9 they’re increasing their security in light of the Charlie Kirk shooting.

Threats to politicians were already becoming more common before Charlie Kirk’s shooting.

An increase in political violence means it might get harder for you to see your representatives in person.

On Thursday night, Iowa Democratic U-S Senate candidate Zach Wahls held a meet and greet at this Raygun store and the shooting of Charlie Kirk was top of mind.

“There’s no place for political violence in our country and my thoughts are with Mr. Kirk’s wife and his young children,” Wahls said.

Wahls didn’t give specifics, but he told me he’s taking steps to increase his security.
