KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — New numbers from the Knox County Forensics Center show that fewer people are dying behind the wheel in Knox and Anderson counties so far this year compared to 2024.
"We need to drive slower...be calmer and be less aggressive and avoid illicit substances behind the wheel," said Chris Thomas, with the Knox County Forensics Center. "Last year was a very deadly year on the road ways. The last two years were very high number inside Knox County."
Numbers from the center shows, there's been 64 deaths tied to a motor vehicle crash from January to August of 2025 in Knox County. The same time last year, that number was 87 deaths.
The Center also reports 34 fatal wrecks have occurred within Knox County so far this year. There were 60 fatal wrecks the same time last year.
