NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Hot and dry weather will be the story over the next few days. Look for lows tonight into Friday morning to drop into the 60s north and low 70s south.
Starting Friday, the pattern shifts as high pressure over Texas begins sliding east. This ridge of high pressure will settle over the Lower Mississippi Valley by Saturday, bringing hotter temperatures with it. Highs will climb into the mid-90s Friday and Saturday, with a few locations possibly reaching the upper 90s. Thankfully, the air will remain fairly dry, which means humidity levels won’t be as oppressive as they could be this time of year. The heat index should stay close to the actual air temperature, keeping heat stress lower than in a typical muggy pattern.
