GREEN BAY — Let’s hold off on any comparisons to the 1985 Chicago Bears, the 2000 Baltimore Ravens or the 1976 Pittsburgh Steelers — along with any attempts at nicknames for this 2025 Green Bay Packers defense.
For now, at least.
But while crowning this bunch would still be premature, this much we can say after the Packers’ 27-18 prime-time victory over the Washington Commanders on Thursday night at Lambeau Field: Their defense is not only made off to a very impressive start in back-to-back wins to start the season, it has kept the Packers ahead during the unproductive lulls that the offense has experienced in the first two games.
Just as the defense had done against the Detroit Lions four days earlier, the unit suffocated the Commanders and reigning NFL offensive rookie of the year Jay
