BURLINGTON, VT (ABC22/FOX44) - September is National Suicide Prevention month, and as the rate of suicides increase so do the number of prevention resources.
Suicide remains as one of the top ten leading causes of death in Vermont. The center operates a 24/7 crisis hotline called "First Call for Chittenden County," plus, a new statewide mobile response team to help people where they are.
The center also runs a new Mental Health Urgent Care clinic on UVM Medical Center's campus. It takes walk-ins Monday through Friday from 9-5.
The senior director of client services says more and more people are using their services.
"we're very concerned about the suicide rate locally and across the country. We are seeing people access help that haven't historically been Howard Center clients or have a
