IOWA CITY — Iowa hosts UMass for the first time in the combined 282-year history of the two programs on Saturday.

Though it will be the Hawkeyes' (1-1, 0-0 Big Ten) first time seeing the maroon and white of the Minutemen (0-2, 0-0 Mid-American), the two coaching staffs facing off in Kinnick Stadium will not be facing one another for the first time on Saturday.

First-year UMass head coach Joe Harasymiak took over the Minutemen after stints as a defensive assistant coach and co-defensive coordinator at Minnesota (2019-21) and as a defensive coordinator at Rutgers (2022-24). Offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian served as a graduate assistant at Rutgers (1998-99) and Michigan (2000-01) early in his career and recently spent time as the offensive coordinator at Northwestern (2020-23).
