Support for proposed laws derided as a "Trojan horse" for the gun lobby has dwindled as an inquiry shoots down the need for further investigation.

A parliamentary committee on Friday recommended MPs consider stakeholders' views gathered in a snap probe when debating the controversial NSW hunting bill in coming weeks.

But the Labor-led panel stopped short of expressing concern about how the bill was developed, including a recent budget allocation of $7.9 million for the yet-to-be established Conservation Hunting Authority.

Initial indications of support for the bill have softened since its introduction but Premier Chris Minns said the government has been transparent about its evolving position.
