Town hall bosses in Trafford are challenging the Secretary of State’s decision to grant planning permission for a 200,000 sq ft industrial scheme in Carrington .

Peel NRE applied for industrial, storage and distribution floorspace on Manchester Road, but Trafford council refused it on the grounds that the scheme did not provide enough funding for infrastructure, like roads and community facilities.

The authority wanted Peel to stump up £5.4m towards the Carrington Relief Road and other schemes.

But Peel appealed against the decision and the presiding planning inspector ruled in the company’s favour in July.
