In a statement to PEOPLE, Cornell University confirmed that two students with valid hunting licenses legally killed a bear and brought it to the school's residence hall

The school said that a police report was made following a complaint, but no charges have been filed

Two Cornell University students killed a bear while hunting earlier this month, then brought the animal back to school and skinned it at a residence hall, according to the school.
