A POPULAR Netflix star has died after a tragic accident saw the actor fall from a building.

The death of Chinese household favourite Yu Menglong, 37, has shocked fans across Asia.

Yu Menglong was one of China 's most recognisable celebrities, starring in fantasy romance Eternal Love.

The Netflix drama garnered more than 50 billion views in just 18 months.

According to his management team, the star reportedly "fell to his death" on Thursday.

In a video statement posted to Chinese social media platform Weibo, his team expressed their grief.

"With unbearable sorrow, we announce that our beloved Menglong fell to his death," they said.

"Police have ruled out any criminality.

"We hope he rests in peace and his loved ones remain strong."
