Wayne Rooney once admitted it's too early to say whether his aspiring footballer son, Kai, will make it at Manchester United. That was before Kai, 15, delivered a devastating update following a recent injury setback, saying: "Life can't get worse".

Rooney junior has understandably faced enormous expectations from fans since joining United's academy system as an 11-year-old in 2020, given that his father ranks among England's finest ever players and holds the record as the club's top goal scorer.

But the teenager reportedly scored 56 goals during his first campaign with the Red Devils. He has also followed in his dad's footsteps by usually operating in a central position but also impacting games in wider areas, earning him comparisons with the United legend.
