Years of fighting recycling plant in Sarasota has residents hopeless

In Central Cocoanut, which sits just north of downtown Sarasota, residents are caught in a familiar cycle: They complain about the nearby U.S. Recycling plant, about the dust and the noise they deal with daily. That attracts the attention of local government officials and the media. Promises are made; meetings are held. The attention dies down, local officials and the media move on to something else, promises are forgotten, and all that remains are the residents and the industrial plant.
