Federal officials on Tuesday announced the weekend arrests in Boston of seven undocumented immigrants deemed “the worst of the worst,” picked up during the aggressive kickoff of President Trump’s latest immigration crackdown .
The Department of Homeland Security, which oversees Customs and Immigration Enforcement, has dubbed this latest operation in Massachusetts as “Patriot 2.0.” It comes after “Operation Patriot,” which was carried out in May when federal authorities arrested nearly 1,500 immigrants in the Boston region alone.
It was not immediately clear how many people overall ICE took into custody over the weekend.
