Increasing drought:

While the sunshine and warm weather is a nice change-of-pace, it is not all great news. Some communities are facing a rainfall deficit.

The latest drought monitor was updated Thursday shows an expansion of the dry weather across North Florida and South Georgia.

The Capital City is nearly five inches below the yearly normal and two inches below the monthly normal so far.

Looking forward, October and November are often the driest months across the area. The bottom line, the dry weather could lead to an increased fire risk by the time we get to next week.
