EXETER, R.I. (WLNE) — This morning, Exeter will be home to a first of its kind model for powering public housing.

Today, a 6.5 megawatt solar installation will be unveiled, promising a new standard of clean energy, and financial relief for public housing residents across nine Ocean State communities.

According to the builders, the power generated will be enough to remove the equivalent of more than one thousand car emissions.

Governor Dan McKee will speak at the event, which will also be attended by Cranston Mayor Ken Hopkins.

That event starts at 10 on Mail Road.
