PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — It’s sentencing day for the man who strangled an elderly woman from Coventry and left her for dead.
Steven Henning is set to learn how many years he’ll serve behind bars.
After changing his plea in June, 53-year-old Henning pleaded guilty on several charges, including kidnapping and assault.
In august of 2024, Henning strangled the 80-year-old victim , left her unconscious in the woods and stole her car.
Thinking she was dead, he went back later to bury her, but by that time she’d woken up and gone to police, who were there to catch him.
Henning’s sentencing will be at 8:30.
