Despite what some may claim, trains are the future of transportation. Proof? Amtrak’s ridership continues to grow to the point that some trains are selling out. For instance, according to a report named Growth Spurt: The Outlook for Chicago’s Intercity Rail Traffic through 2030 by the Director of the Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development at DePaul University in Chicago, the Chicago hub may soon face a serious problem .
The report states that this hub is outperforming peer regions and that trains traveling from or to this city won’t be able to welcome the increase in passengers in the near future. This issue is already impacting the popular Mardi Gras service. Luckily, Amtrak has decided to fix this problem.
