The chair of the fast-growing London District Catholic school board was shocked to learn this week the board’s budget has a funding shortfall of more than $22 million.

That could mean cuts to programs and services such as special education, transportation and after-school activities.

“These are extremely challenging times because of the landscape of this budget and how the rules in the game have changed,” board chair Gabe Pizzuti said.

Areas being underfunded include special education and mental health initiatives, transportation costs for special programs and a bus monitor program, he said.
