Police have arrested a man in connection with a sexual assault at a park in New Haven last month involving a woman who was out for a run when she was attacked by a man with a box cutter.

Ludvi Carias-Interiano, 34, of West Haven was arrested on Thursday morning on charges of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and first-degree unlawful restraint, according to the New Haven Police Department .

Police said Carias-Interiano was charged in connection with an incident on Aug. 9 in a wooded area of Fort Hale Park where a woman was jogging in the morning hours when a man with a box cutter allegedly attacked her.

The victim was taken to a hospital for medical treatment following the attack.
