Based out west : CNN has announced that Elex Michaelson is joining the network as a Los Angeles-based anchor starting in the fall. Michaelson will anchor a two-hour weeknight show from midnight to 2 a.m. ET on CNN and CNN International.

“I am so excited to join CNN and learn firsthand from some of the most talented journalists on the planet,” said Michaelson. “I’m especially grateful that CNN is expanding its investment in my hometown as the West Coast houses so many global leaders in politics, entertainment, technology, sports, and more. This is truly a dream job.”

Before joining CNN, Michaelson was an anchor for the Fox affiliate KTTV 11 and, prior to that, worked as a reporter at KABC-TV in Los Angeles and was a weekend morning anchor and weeknight reporter for XETV in San Diego.
