Aberdeen have been handed a major European boost after UEFA announced a rule change ahead of this season's group stages.

Three Scottish clubs will be competing across the continent this season, with Celtic and Rangers both in the Europa League and Jimmy Thelin's Dons in the Europa Conference League .

All three sides have announced their 25-man squads for the competitions, and UEFA have introduced a last-minute rule tweak that will see clubs allowed to swap out injured players during the tournament.

The move would see Aberdeen able to call up a player initially left out, handing the likes of Alfie Dorrington, Kenen Bilalovic, Mitchel Frame and Kjartan Mar Kjartansson a chance to feature in the Conference League.
