A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after a three-car crash on a major Aberdeen road on Thursday.

Emergency services including police and paramedics rushed to the scene on South Anderson Drive at its junction with Newlands Crescent at around 1.05pm following the collision.

The 67-year-old female driver of a Volkswagen T-Roc was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where her condition is described as critical.

No-one else in the other vehicles - a Vauxhall Astra and an Audi A3 - required medical treatment following the crash.

Police have now launched an appeal for information, and urged any witnesses or those with dash-cam footage to contact the force.
