South Wales Police have confirmed they are on the scene and have advised motorists to steer clear of the area as congestion builds. A police spokesperson stated, "We're at the scene of a collision on the M4, Bridgend. Lane 3 is closed in both directions between Junction 36 for Sarn and Junction 35 for Pencoed. As of 09:30, traffic is rapidly accumulating across the M4, with several key points becoming heavily congested. According to traffic monitoring service Inrix, the heaviest delays are reported between Junction 36 A4061 and Junction 35 A473. Additionally, queues are forming on the Prince of Wales Bridge from Junction 23 M48 to Junction 22 M49. Motorists are urged to seek alternative routes to avoid the affected areas.
