BROOK PARK, Ohio — Brook Park City Council is weighing legislation that would regulate the use of electric bicycles in the city, aligning local ordinances with state law and rules adopted by neighboring communities.
The proposal was introduced by Councilman Tom Dufour, Ward 2 Councilman Jimmy Mencini and Ward 4 Councilman Richard Scott as part of an effort to fold e-bikes into the city’s existing bicycle rules.
“The goal of this legislation is to really modernize our ordinances, promote public safety for both e-bike users, pedestrians and motorists, and also to provide clarity on how our existing ordinances apply to this new and novel mode of transportation,” Dufour said.
