WASHINGTON — Authorities say a 22-year-old Utah man has been taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of conservative media personality Charlie Kirk.

Tyler Robinson, of Utah, was arrested late Thursday night, 33 hours after Kirk was shot, FBI Director Kash Patel said.

"We got him," Utah Gov. Brian Cox declared during a Friday morning press conference.

Cox confirmed that investigators believe Robinson became more politically extreme in recent years, and had been waiting for Kirk to come to the Utah Valley University campus.

"Robinson had become more political in recent years," Cox said. "Robinson mentioned Charlie kirk was coming to UVU."
