GOLDEN MEADOW, La. (Louisiana First) — Louisiana and shrimp go together like king cake and Mardi Gras, but nowadays, most shrimp eaten across the United States is imported from another country.

Investigators have determined that's true even in Louisiana. The impact is being felt across coastal communities reliant on a strong shrimping industry.

Gerald Griffin is a netmaker at Chines Cajun Net Shop in Golden Meadow, a community full of shrimping boats and people who care about each other.

"Everybody sticks together," Griffin said.
