LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Students and staff at Lafayette High School had a bit of a scare this morning, as they were asked to shelter in place after a perceived threat to the school.

The shelter-in-place order was lifted late this morning, according to a message sent to parents. A sweep of the school found no threat, officials said. All students are now back in class.

School officials said a student reported a possible weapon on campus, which turned out to be a voice recorder. Lafayette Police did respond immediately. School officials says after reviewing video footage and locating the student in question, officers determined the individual had a voice recorder and not a weapon.

Classes have since resumed normal operations.
