The actors met each other in the lobby of West Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont hotel in October 2007, where Rockwell was living as he filmed "Frost/Nixon" and Bibb was meeting friends.

Bibb spoke their origins during a 2012 interview with Rosie O’Donnell. “I just smiled and he smiled at me and I go, ‘Oh no, what’s that?’ Sometimes you just get struck,” she said.
