Millions must act fast as U.S. ends paper checks for Social Security, Veterans Affairs

A cost-cutting move by the federal government could create significant inconveniences for people who receive Social Security payments, checks for Veterans Affairs benefits, and even tax refunds, given that starting Sept. 30, the U.S Treasury will stop issuing paper checks for most government service programs.
