KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One man is dead after a shooting and a home explosion in Independence Thursday night.
According to Independence police, around 11 p.m. Thursday, officers were sent to a home on South Arlington Avenue near 23rd Street for a person who was suicidal.
Police said there was a domestic disturbance at the home between two brothers where one had shot at the other. No injuries happened in this shooting.
The IPD SWAT team was sent to the scene because one of the brothers had barricaded himself inside the home.
When the SWAT team arrived, they could smell natural gas from inside the home, according to police. They shut the gas off.
